OUR MINISTRIES
PREACHING - Pastor Martin preaches the whole counsel of God compassionately and without apology. The Bible makes a clear distinction between preaching and teaching, (2 Timothy 4:2-3 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears...). At New Testament Baptist Church preaching takes preeminence. The BIBLE is expounded, not stories or life experiences. God manifest's his Word through preaching! (Titus 1:3a But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching...). Sinners are lead to Christ through preaching! (Romans 10:14,17 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? ... 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.)
If you are use to old fashion, Holy Spirit filled, Bible preaching, then your soul will receive a blessing in every service!
SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY - As an experienced teacher, Pastor Martin uses this time to teach books of the Bible verse by verse. This is not done in a boring lecture fashion. Pastor Martin has a unique style of teaching that is humorous and very "down-to-earth." Each passage is thoroughly explained and then a practical application is made for our modern everyday life.
We also have a Sunday School class for pre-schoolers, elementary, and jr. high age children.
NURSERY - We have a small yet efficiently staffed nursery.
BIBLE INSTITUTE - Pastor Martin has been a professor at Great Plains Baptist College and Seminary, Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a number of years. The college has allowed Dr. Martin to continue teaching here in Rochester as a satellite college. These classes are open to anyone, and students may take the classes for credit or audit. These credits are transferable to other Bible and secular colleges and universities. For further information please call the church at 507-292-0745, or email Dr. Martin.
MISSIONS - We support missions through the scriptural program called "Faith Promise Missions." The Faith Promise method of giving is a free-will offering given to the local church to provide finances for our world wide & home based missions. A "Faith Promise" offering is first an act of faith, second it is a promise to God. Thirdly, it is a Free-Will Offering, and fourth it is a promise that is to be carried out until God changes it for you. It is simply trusting and believing God to supply the amount He impresses upon you to promise.
Since "missions boards" are para-church organizations, we DO NOT support those sent out from boards. There is only one scriptural way to commission and send missionaries and that is through the local New Testament church. The only institution that has scriptural authority to commission and send missionaries is the local church. Therefore, we only support those who have been commissioned and sent from a local New Testament church.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).
NURSING HOME SERVICE - On the second and third Sunday afternoon of each month we go out to two different nursing home here in Rochester and hold a church service. It gives an opportunity for our members to serve the Lord and be a blessing to people who otherwise cannot come out to our regular services.
